Care for Your Porcelain Veneers
We are proud to be able to help our patients create a beautiful smile, no matter the condition of their teeth. All those that walk out of our doors will be able to once again eat, smile, and talk with confidence, but the aftercare of many of our most effective procedures is often just as important as the dental treatments themselves. This is why our Northridge cosmetic dentist believes that all patients that have recently obtained veneers or are considering this procedure should understand how to properly care for them over the years.
The first step after receiving porcelain veneers is to carry out all of the traditional oral hygiene habits. This includes brushing and flossing multiple times a day, ensuring that all exposed areas of the teeth are cleaned. While the mouth is healing, it is also important to avoid smoking and drinking excessively as it could affect the bonding resin, as well as, the teeth and gums.
Patients should also refrain from putting any excessive pressure on the veneers, especially during those first few days. Habits such as chewing on pens or grinding one’s teeth could chip or fracture the veneers. Those that struggle with bruxism should speak with our dentist about options they may have for custom-fitted dental appliances that can be worn at night.
A stained or damaged smile is not something that anyone ever has to accept without a fight. If you or a loved one would like to fully restore your smile, contact our office to see if veneers may be right for you.
