Replacing Multiple Teeth with Dental Implants
Dental implants can replace one tooth or several. These devices are inserted into the jawbone in a minor surgical procedure. Once they have been implanted, they are covered and allowed to heal. The healing process, called osseointegration, occurs when the bone fuses with the implant. This can take several weeks or months, but the results can last as long as any of your natural teeth.
If you have lost multiple teeth, implants can be an excellent option. The process takes place over several visits. At the first visit, we will take dental impressions, images, and other records to create a treatment plan. Next, the implants will be placed. You may choose to have all of the missing teeth replaced this way, or have only a couple implants support artificial teeth.
Once the implants are inserted, they are allowed to heal, and temporary teeth are placed to restore your smile. We will monitor the implants and your bone tissue to ensure you are healing properly, and once the bone tissue has fused with the implants, an abutment, or extension, will be attached. The final step is to restore the implants with custom-made crowns, made from the material of your choosing.
