Right Candidates for Dental Implants
Missing teeth can reduce the stability of your smile, make you feel self-conscious and even damage your long-term dental health. Our dentist in Northridge often recommends replacing teeth that have been lost due to dental trauma, decay or gum disease with bridges, dentures or implants. Dental implants are generally considered the standard when it comes to restoring lost teeth.
You may be a candidate for implants if you:
• Are missing one tooth, a few teeth or all your teeth
• Are looking for a permanent solution
• Have a fully grown jawbone
Most people are candidates for implants. The best candidates have good dental and overall health with adequate bone density. However, you may still be a candidate even if you have gum disease or decreased bone tissue.
At your consultation, we will take a medical and dental history, and we may ask if you use tobacco, have any medical conditions or use medications. This allows us to recommend the most appropriate treatments and create your treatment plan. Implants may be placed in a single outpatient appointment, and the restorations will be placed at a later appointment. This allows the implant site time to heal and fuse with the implants.
Once the implants have integrated with the jawbone, you can have them restored. Porcelain crowns, dental bridges and dentures may all be used. The implants will keep your new restorations secure and stable, and they will also keep your bone tissue strong and healthy. Contact us to find out more or to schedule your appointment.
